Charitable support at store level

Help Feed People in Need. Help build a stronger neighbourhood.

Thank you to all our customers who donated to our third Neighbourhood Food Collection in stores on 29/30 November and 1st December. Your donations, combined with our 30% top up, mean that together we gave enough food to provide 4.3 million meals.

Since we held our first Neighbourhood Food Collection in December 2012, together we have donated a fantastic 10.2 million meals that all go to help FareShare and the Trussell Trust help feed people in need across the UK.

Cancer Research UK and F&F donated stock appeal

In September F&F collaborated with Cancer Research UK to run a donated stock appeal in stores nationwide. Over 300 Extra and Superstores got involved and delivered the appeal with the support of 800 volunteers. Customers brought in their unwanted, high quality items to donate to Cancer Research UK shops and to say thank you we gave customers a £5 off voucher to be redeemed when spending £25 or more on clothing in store.

UK Store collections

We have an agency called Arc who schedules the charity and food collection bookings for all of our UK Superstores and Extra stores between January and November each year.

To request a booking at your local Tesco store please complete our application form and send it to:

During December these stores manage their own collections.  Our Metro stores manage their own collections all year round.  We do not make any charity collection bookings at our Express stores.

To request a December booking please write to the Charity / Community Champion at your local store (Find your local store).

Bag Packing

Our stores manage their own bag packing bookings (excludes Express stores).  If you would like to arrange a session please write to the Charity / Community Champion at your local store (Find your local store).

Each Tesco UK store holds a community donation budget to help local organisations with their fundraising events.  If you would like to be considered for a donation please write to the Charity/ Community Champion at your local store (Find your local store).

Please note, our stores receive a high volume of requests all year round and in order for them to support as many different groups as possible they may need to limit the amount that they are able to donate.

Our prime focus of activity is to provide donations and sponsorship direct to charities and organisations working with children’s education and welfare, elderly people and people with disabilities. Unfortunately we are unable to sponsor events or individuals, but please take a look at our criteria for grant funding through the Tesco Charity Trust.

Community Champions

Tesco has Community Champions in a lot of their stores. Their role is to act as an ambassador for their store within the local area, being a great neighbour and bringing genuine benefit to the local community.
