Today, Kids Country Food and Farming Day welcomes 6,000 local primary school children to the East of England Showground to learn about the world of food and farming. The show will see suppliers such as Happy Chick, Arla, Bartletts, and Richard Hochfeld, explain to children the full story of farming, from farm to fork.

For the second year running, The Tesco Eat Happy Project sponsors the event. We’re supporting the day with 35 volunteers from local stores. This season Tesco hopes to educate the children on a variety of summer berries.

Our supplier, Berry Gardens, will be joining us and bringing strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries to teach the children the berries’ growing journey. The children will get an opportunity to taste the berries and feedback which are their favourites and why. There will be over 400 punnets of each fruit and we estimate that around 4,000 strawberries alone, will be gobbled up.

The Tesco Eat Happy Project provides free activities for parents, teachers and youth leaders to help our children build a healthier relationship with food. To date over 1.5 million children have had an Eat Happy experience through Tesco.
