Listening to customers, every step of the way
20 April 2015
Customers told us they wanted prices which are simple, lower and more stable. They said they want prices which are competitive, consistent and which they can trust all the time. So in response we’re bringing down prices on many of the brands customers buy every day.
The last few months have been all about one thing at Tesco: listening to our customers, and making sure we’re doing everything we can to respond to what they need.
We know that customers want to see real changes in the way we serve and help them. So we’ve been working incredibly hard to listen to what customers want and make sure we understand what’s important to them.
That’s why since October we’ve been putting a bigger focus on service and availability. Customers told us they want more help with their shopping, and colleagues who’ll always go the extra mile.
So over the last few months around 6000 new colleagues have joined Tesco – plus thousands of office colleagues have been helping out in stores across the UK as part of our new programme “Feet on the Floor”.
What’s more, at Christmas, when things can be really stressful, and when none of us ever have enough time to do all our shopping, we brought in teams of bag packers at 400 Tesco stores. They weren’t just there to help pack up people’s shopping; they did everything from going back to pick up products which customers had forgotten, to helping push heavy trolleys to the car.
Today we’re announcing one of many initiatives we’ll take to invest in our customers in 2015 – by lowering the prices on hundreds of branded products.
Customers told us they wanted prices which are simple, lower and more stable. They said they want prices which are competitive, consistent and which they can trust all the time. So in response we’re bringing down prices on many of the brands customers buy every day.
We know that brands are important to our customers: they’re the kind of products which customers don’t want to do without. Therefore it’s important that they represent good value for money.
So from today, customers will be able to buy many of their favourite products cheaper at Tesco – from Tetley Tea to Colgate Triple Action Toothpaste, Hovis White Bread to Kellogg’s Cornflakes. Overall, we’re cutting the prices of around 380 branded products by an average of 25 per cent.
Crucially, these new, lower prices will be the same across all formats. So wherever you shop at Tesco, you can buy branded products at prices which are simple, stable and low.
We’re looking forward to hearing what customers think of the new prices as we continue on this journey through 2015.
