Supporting local communities
We are really proud to work with hundreds of charities and local community organisations with the help of our Community Champions. In addition we also support the British Red Cross with our emergency agreement partnership.
As ambassadors for Tesco within their area, our 500 Community Champions work to ensure we are a great neighbour that brings genuine benefit to their local community. Playing an active role in the causes our customers and communities care about.
Each UK store holds a community budget to help support with requests for local fundraising events. To be considered for a donation please write to the Community Champion at your nearest store (Find your local store). We receive a high volume of requests, so we may need to limit the amount donated. Unfortunately we are unable to sponsor events or individuals.
UK Store Collections
Our agency, N20, organises charity and food collections for all of our UK stores* between January and November each year. Request a booking at your local Tesco store by registering your charity and requesting a collection here.
During December stores* manage their own collections.. Request a December booking by writing to the Community Champion at your local store.
Colleague 20% Top-Up
All Tesco colleagues can apply for a 20% top-up on their personal fundraising. We automatically top-up colleague fundraising for our National Charity Partner and Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.
British Red Cross Partnership
Tesco is proud of our long history of partnership with the British Red Cross. Since the beginning of our partnership, together with our customers and colleagues in the UK, we have donated over £10.8 million to the British Red Cross. This money has provided vital support for emergencies in the UK as well as humanitarian work in overseas disasters.
Emergency Agreement Partnership With the Red Cross
Our emergency agreement partnership with the Red Cross here in the UK enables the British Red Cross emergency response teams to request goods as gift-in kind from any of our stores in the UK. In the past, this has led to Tesco providing essential toiletries, bottled water, blankets and food to families and communities when they need it most, such as after severe flooding or the loss of their home.
