Hundreds of Tesco colleagues raised thousands of pounds for charity by sending teddy bears on store tours around the country.

I am really proud to have been part of ‘Teds On Tour’, raising over £123k from just 11 little teddy bears. The bears visited 243 Tesco stores across the central region – from Norfolk to Nottingham and Wales to Cambridge. Each store director’s area had a bear and 30 days for it to visit each store, raising money for our National Charity Partnership.

Across the month, there were competitions for the best selfie, most innovative form of travel and best celebrity selfie. The engagement and enthusiasm from the region was fantastic, with our fluffy, fundraising friends going on tractors, aeroplanes, fire engines, police cars, as well as doing marathons, abseiling and visiting the seaside amongst many other stunts. They even rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as "Boycie" from Only Fools & Horses and the magician Dynamo.

The bears grabbed the hearts of our colleagues and customers and proved to be fantastic mascots for Tesco. I’m really passionate about local communities and working with charities and love that the company’s vision encourages us to show the ‘heart’ of the brand and the genuine intent of our colleagues who want to make a difference. What’s next for the bears? They can’t sit still for long!
