Stanley Carpenter

  • Retired Tesco Colleague
  • Kent

Stanley started working at Tesco when he was 12 as a weekend yard boy delivering groceries on his bike – he worked for us for 70 years. In 1943 and at the age of 18 Stanley was conscripted and joined the RAF. He stayed in the RAF until 1947 as a store operator (giving out uniforms and supplies) and working on the air fields around the UK. After his time in the RAF Stanley rejoined us and went on to manage four stores.

Stanley met his wife through Tesco as they both worked for us in Dorking just after the war ended. Stanley is now 89 and lives in Kent.
