Christmas supplier T H Clements and Son Ltd, who have been supplying Tesco for 35 years, work around-the-clock for 10 days to produce the perfect sprout.
Love them or hate them, millions of sprouts are grown in the fields surrounding Boston, Lincolnshire by family owned business TH Clements, who've been supplying Tesco since 1982.
It takes 18 months of planning, planting, picking and packing to produce the perfect Christmas sprout. Our Lincolnshire farmers care for the crop throughout the year. Walking the fields every day to ensure the best quality of Tesco’s sprouts. We have teams in the fields harvesting 24/7, working 17 machines. Up to 500 people can be working at this time of year to ensure there are enough sprouts.
The classic Christmas sprout will be picked and packed 24 hours a day for a solid 10 days straight. For Christmas over 150 million British sprouts will be harvested for Tesco. They’re sorted and packed on site and in-store the same day.
To help reduce food waste at home why not try using the leftover sprouts to make bubble & squeak. Mix with left over potato, shape into mini patties and fry. Add a poached egg or two for a yummy breakfast.
