We are proud to be part of thousands of communities around the world. We want to make a positive difference: through the local people we employ, the local businesses we work with, and the local causes we support. Because where our communities thrive, our business thrives too.

Supporting local causes

Our priority is to continue to support the local causes that our colleagues and customers care about. We have set up national programmes that allow us to respond to these issues at a local level. Our community grant programmes in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Central Europe give our customers and colleagues the chance to vote for local projects to receive financial support from Tesco. So far we have supported 31,000 projects making a difference to local communities.

Feeding people in need

We know that providing food to people in need is a challenge affecting communities across the countries where we do business. By donating good quality surplus food to local charities and community groups last year we were able to provide the equivalent of 81 million meals.

Our 320 Community Champions in stores across the UK help us build relationships with communities and get behind local events. We are proud to have supported Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for 19 years, raising millions for vital research to beat cancer.
