Feeding your Christmas Spirit
It’s no secret winter can be the busiest time of year for food charities. More than 3.1 million emergency food parcels were distributed by Trussell’s community of food banks in the past 12 months – the most parcels ever distributed in a year and nearly double the number compared to five years ago. While FareShare charities saw an 86% rise in people seeking their support; that’s why we continue our initiatives with Trussell and FareShare through our Winter Food Collection to give extra help where needed.
Thanks to our customers
As the saying goes, every little helps. Every tin, toy, gingerbread house and every hour volunteered helped to make a big difference last Christmas.

1.9 million meals donated
Each item donated helps support charities FareShare and Trussell. We collected food and £340,000 donated by customers rounding up at the till and online. It’s not just for Christmas. Food collection points are in store all year round.

Over 100,000 toys donated
Our first toy collection was a success bringing festive cheer to children across the UK. We sent toys to over 500 organisations. That included 80 children’s wards, 15 hospices, over 20 women’s refuge centres and The Salvation Army

£142,000 donated through Gingerbread donations
For each gingerbread product sold, 10p went straight to our long-standing charity partners FareShare and Trussell, to support people in communities across the UK.
Community Food Connection - donating all year round
We continue to donate surplus food from all our stores through our Community Food Connection programme all year round plus we have permanent collection points in all our stores to make it easier to donate to our partners every time you shop.
