Tesco’s political donations policy

Political Donations

Last updated: 01/02/2019

At Tesco we strive to maintain the highest standards of corporate governance in all our actions and take measures to identify and mitigate operational and reputational risk wherever we do business. We seek to be transparent in how corporate funds are employed to create value for shareholders and we are always fully compliant with the law regarding political involvement, whether this is in the UK or anywhere across the Tesco Group.

As a company, we have no political affiliations and we do not make political donations. We work with governments and other parties around the world on issues that are important to our customers and to the interests of the business. Any political expenditure that we do make is reported in line with national laws and reported in the Annual Report. This position is written into our Code of Business Conduct.

Like most businesses, we do have membership of trade associations across the Tesco Group. We believe trade associations provide a key role in any industry in formulating effective public policy that champions both business and consumer interests.
