Sustainable Farming Groups
As part of our commitment to a competitive and productive agriculture sector, we’ve set-up Tesco Sustainable Farming Groups (TSFGs). The Groups, led by our suppliers, farmers and Tesco colleagues, are central to our work of building long-term relationships with our farmers and becoming British agriculture’s most trusted partner. TSFGs drive improvements in quality, consistency and taste, as well as supply chain efficiency and farm animal welfare.
Fair for Farmers Guarantee
All of our milk is 100% British, from cows who receive great care and attention. We’re committed to selling high quality milk, sourced from British dairy farmers who benefit from our long-term support and are guaranteed a fair price for every pint. Since 2007, we’ve worked directly with over 600 dairy farmers, with herds ranging from 40 to 1,900 cows, who supply us with fresh milk.
Tesco Supplier Network
We work in partnership with 15,000 suppliers and producers. Keeping close channels of communication with all of them around the world is an essential part of how we trade responsibly. In part this is made possible by our online supplier community, the Tesco Supplier Network. It enables our suppliers around the world to discuss ideas and identify common challenges, and allows us to share best practice to drive sustainability and innovation, both throughout our supply chain and ultimately in the products that our customers enjoy.
Future Farmer Foundation
We’re helping secure the future of British farming by supporting the next generation of farmers. Tesco established the Future Farmer Foundation in 2014, with the aim of supporting and inspiring young people in farming across the UK and Ireland. The programme is available to people aged between 20 and 35 from all farming sectors, whether they’re taking over the family farm or entering the industry for the first time. So far, 350 young farmers have graduated from the programme, with 50 new farmers gaining places in 2019.
