Creating opportunities for young people in the UK
This September we will offer up to 2,000 training sessions for young people as part of our continued commitment to the IGD’s Feeding Britain’s Future initiative which was announced earlier this week. More than 100 UK businesses have signed up to the scheme to help unemployed young people by offering 12,000 training placements.
Taking place across the week of the 16-20 September, Tesco training sessions will cover key skills like searching for a job effectively, applications, CV writing and interview techniques.
Last year we ran two sessions each day for a week at eight participating stores, with over 200 young people taking part. This year we are going even further by running sessions at twenty stores across all the major cities in England as well as at some specific areas where youth unemployment is a particularly big challenge. By increasing the number of stores taking part, we will be able to offer the equivalent of 100 days of skills training for those young people who need it most.
