Large Employers Signal Support for Gender Pay Equality
31 Dec 2013
Over 140 large employers have now signed up to the UK Government’s initiative to improve gender equality in the workplace.
This week brought welcome news that over 140 large employers have now signed up to the UK Government’s initiative to improve gender equality in the workplace.
Tesco has been reporting on pay equality for several years now and we were one of the first employers to sign up to the voluntary Think, Act, Report scheme when it was launched back in September 2011. The pay gap between men and women in our UK business is currently 1% compared to the national average of 10%.
Through our dedicated women’s network and development programme, Women in Leadership, we’re committed to seeing our female colleagues reach their full potential. In the last six years our number of female directors has increased by 92% and over 30% of our PLC Board members are women.
We are also proud to support wider initiatives like Inspiring the Future, which will see senior women at Tesco visit local schools to inspire young female students.
