We are pleased to be one of a number of partners in a new study to boost recycling in the UK. The study, funded by DEFRA, will scope out viable approaches for collecting flexible packaging materials containing aluminium, such as toothpaste tubes and pet food sachets, in order to improve recycling and the remanufacture of aluminium.

Felix Gummer, Customer Recycling Manager at Tesco, said:

"As part of our commitment to helping our customers recycle, we are delighted to be part of this pioneering project to find new ways to collect and recycle packaging containing aluminium.

As the UK’s largest retailer we have a unique opportunity to use our scale to facilitate greater recycling in the UK. We already do much to help customers recycle, including recycle stations in 450 stores where customers can dispose of batteries, water filter cartridges, energy saving light bulbs and selected ink cartridges".
