Energy Ambassador Programme Wins Edie Award

25 Nov 2015

Last week our Energy Ambassador programme won Employee Engagement and Behaviour Change initiative of the year at the edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2015.

Recognising that working closely with colleagues to engage on energy efficiency is key to reducing our carbon footprint, Tesco joined forces with Global Action Plan to provide environmental training and employment opportunities to 36 unemployed young people.

Tesco then recruited four Energy Ambassadors for a year-long placement as behaviour change and engagement specialists. The ambassadors worked shoulder to shoulder with over 3,000 Tesco colleagues and across 120 stores in Scotland to give energy efficiency support.

Tesco continues to recognise climate change as the biggest environmental threat the world faces and by helping to develop initiatives such as the Energy Ambassador programme, we can reduce our impact on the environment. The energy ambassador programme led to an increase in the number of staff who understand how their jobs contributes to energy use and the costs of running stores.
