100 New Permanent Collection Points

14 Apr 2016

Helping those charities who are on the front line of helping to feed people in need is a major priority for us as a business – and we are immensely proud of the contribution we have made. At Tesco we run national Neighbourhood Food Collections at every store twice a year in Summer and Winter to help provide vital food for people in need.

Helping those charities who are on the front line of helping to feed people in need is a major priority for us as a business – and we are immensely proud of the contribution we have made. At Tesco we run national Neighbourhood Food Collections at every store twice a year in Summer and Winter to help provide vital food for people in need. However, we think it is really important to support these people throughout the year and this why we also have many permanent food collection points across the UK where customers can donate all year round. Today we are pleased to announce that we have increased the number of our permanent collection points to over 600.

It's really easy to donate food in one of our stores - simply buy any non-perishable food items, such as pasta, tinned soup or UHT milk, and leave it at the food collection point. To find where your nearest food collection point is and where all our new collection points are, view our map here.

By increasing the number of collection points and making it even easier for customers to donate food, we will be able to give more support to our two charity partners – The Trussell Trust and FareShare. FareShare aim to tackle food waste and redistributes food to frontline charities and community groups, while the Trussell Trust foodbanks provide three days’ emergency food to people in crisis. In addition to all the donations customers give, Tesco also tops up all donations by 20% which goes directly to FareShare and The Trussell Trust.
