Apply for a Bags of Help Grant

23 May 2016

Ensuring that we have a positive impact on our communities by looking after the local environment is important to us. That’s why we took the opportunity of the government's 5p bag charge to develop our Bags of Help grant scheme which will see local community groups awarded £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000.

Now in its second round, we are still welcoming applications from across the UK for projects that will create or improve green spaces in local communities. Projects can range from building new parks and sports facilities, to improving woodland walks and school gardens. To see the range of projects funded in the first round view our interactive map here.

If you are a local community group and are interested in applying you can do so through Groundwork, an environmental charity which we are proud to be working with to administer the scheme. Likewise, customers can also nominate potential projects by letting us know about outdoor areas that need a bit of love. The application deadline for this round is midday on the 3rd June.

Once the application stage closes, our colleagues and Groundwork will whittle down the admissions to three projects in each local area. Customers will then be able to vote in stores for their favourite project that will give great places for our customers, colleagues and communities to enjoy. The next round of voting will take place from the 26th September 2016.
