Buy One, Donate One with F&F

25 Aug 2016

Every time a customer buys an item of school uniform from the Buy One, Donate One range, F&F donates an entire school uniform to a child in the same area as where the uniforms are made.

As we prepare for our children to return to school, F&F are enabling many thousands of children across developing countries to also receive new school uniforms. Every time a customer buys an item of school uniform from the Buy One, Donate One range, F&F donates an entire school uniform to a child in the same area as where the uniforms are made.

Ensuring that we have a good impact on our communities and are a good neighbour is important to Tesco. We know that our business can only be vibrant if communities are vibrant too. We therefore look at how we impact communities in a number of ways including the communities in which we operate.

Studies have shown that children who go to school in uniform in the developing world have lower rates of absenteeism and perform better in tests. The buy one, donate one range means that we can support many thousands of children going to school in countries where we operate such as Kenya, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Since 2009, with the help of our customers, F&F has donated more than 350,000 school uniforms to children that need them.

Alan Wragg, F&F’s Technical Director, said:

“Seeing how happy the children are when they receive their school uniforms makes me realise just how important this initiative is. I am very proud that we are able to continue supporting schools in Kenya, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh again this year.”

As well as donating school uniforms, F&F also work with schools all year round through the Funding Futures programme. Donating other learning resources and training teachers to deliver after school life skill programmes are just some of the ways we are supporting education more widely in Asia.
