Tesco is here to help as colleagues provide Christmas customer service

Tesco customers will receive a much-needed helping hand this Christmas as the retailer introduces 4,000 'here to help' colleagues across all of its UK stores.

Tesco customers will receive a much-needed helping hand this Christmas as the retailer introduces 4,000 ‘here to help’ colleagues across all of its UK stores.  

From Saturday 19 December, colleagues in Tesco’s 700 larger stores will be helping customers find forgotten products, navigate the gift sets to find that perfect last minute stocking filler or just be there for a quick chat if the Christmas planning all gets a bit too much.  

These stores will also have Christmas greeters to point shoppers in the right direction and spread Christmas cheer with seasonal treats for younger customers.  

And for the first time, Tesco’s 1,700 Express convenience stores will each have a dedicated colleague in place on Christmas Eve to help customers find any last-minute Christmas essentials.  

Tony Hoggett, UK Retail Director at Tesco said: “We all know what a busy time Christmas can be, so our colleagues will be on hand to help in any way they can, whether that’s helping to find that last minute Christmas present or greeting customers with that extra bit of festive cheer. And for the first time, we will have a colleague dedicated to helping customers in each of our smaller Express stores this Christmas Eve when we know customers are busy trying to find those last minute essentials. Throughout the festive season we’ve been providing customers with ‘little helps’ to make Christmas that little bit easier, so we hope this festive season is relatively stress-free!”  

5,000 Head Office colleagues will also be playing their part in the run-up to the big day by taking part in Tesco’s Feet on the Floor programme.  

Alongside delivering for customers Tesco will be delivering for colleagues with their largest ever service recognition programme.  Each of Tesco’s stores will be selecting a “service superstar” every day from 1 December 2015 until 3 January 2016.  

Customers will continue to benefit from a range of offers throughout the festive season including Tesco’s Festive Five fresh vegetable offer and its Brand Guarantee price-matching service, which means customers will never lose out on their branded Christmas shop when visiting Tesco.
