Food waste ambulances in Central Europe
16 November 2018
At Tesco we have no time for waste. We know that our customers and colleagues care strongly about waste and five years ago we made a commitment to lead on reducing food waste globally. As well as reducing food waste in our own operations, we are clear that we have a shared responsibility to reduce food waste in our supply chain, and help our customers waste less at home. If food cannot be sold, we offer it to charities and community groups who help feed people in need.
Many organisations tell us that the size of their vehicles is an issue that limits the amount of donated food they can take. As a result, in Central Europe we are trialling the use of our online delivery vehicles as ‘food waste ambulances’ so that food banks can collect more food surplus.
